After his return to India in 1915, he set about organizing peasants, farmers, and urban laborer's to protest against excessive land-tax and discrimination.

Gandhi's contribution to the Indian freedom movement cannot be measured in words. The farmers sought Gandhi's help and through a calculated non-violent protest, Gandhi managed to win concessions from the authority.
