C.F.Andrews was willing to help them if Gandhi agreed. He thought that it would be helpful if they had an Englishman on their side. But Gandhi was vehemently opposed to it saying it showed the weaknesses of his heart. In this way, Gandhi taught us a lesson in self-reliance.
