Griffin had expected that Dr. Kemp would help him in his plans and also aid him in furthering the cause of his scientific discovery, sheltering a former colleague in house. However, Kemp had chosen to prioritize public safety over scientific advancement. Griffin was filled with rage after escaping from Dr Kemp's house because he had expected his old acquaintance to understand the strange predicament that Griffin had fallen into. Instead Dr Kemp saw far larger consequences of the situation and called the police on him while pretending to give Griffin shelter under his roof. Griffin felt cheated and regretted placing his trust in Dr Kemp, he was already a hunted man and now there was no one he could turn to for help.
