Griffin was a scientist who swallowed a drug and his body became transparent. When the landlord tried to eject him from his house, he set fire to the landlord's house and escaped after becoming invisible. He entered a store to wear clothes inorder to protect himself from the cold. When the assistants chased him, he became invisible. He robbed the shopkeeper of the theatrical goods . Later, when he was short of money, his invisibility helped him to steal money from the Clergyman's study. When the Constable tried to catch the headless scientist, he threw off one garment after another and became invisible. He hit the Constable and escaped. In this way, his invisibility helped him to escape when he was in trouble.
