Gulliver was surprised the next morning when he realized that what he thought to be cloud flying overhead the previous day was actually a flying island, the island of Laputa.
He saw movements overhead and he called out to the men and was eventually pulled onto the landmass by means of a chain attached to pulleys. He was in the flying island of Laputa.
Gulliver had been back home for hardly ten days when Captain William Robinson came with a proposal to sail to the East Indies. Even though he had faced many misfortunes in the past, Gulliver accepted the proposal because he still had a keen urge to see the world.
During the voyage they were attacked by pirates. Gulliver insulted the pirate captain. As a punishment he was set adrift upon the ocean in a small canoe with paddles and a sail. It had provisions for four days.
For five days Gulliver explored a new island every day. He reached an island called Balnibarbi. He spent the night there. In the morning he saw that the cloud floating in the air above the island was actually a floating island.
The island was called Laputa. Its movement was controlled by a magnet. He saw a number of people moving on the island. He managed to signal to them that he needed help. They steered overhead and let down a chain. Gulliver climbed up the chain and reached the floating island.
