Gulliver was working as an apprentice surgeon in the ship named "Antelope". On its first voyage it was caught in a violent storm and sank and all the crew members were engulfed in the ocean. Gulliver somehow managed to swim to the seashore. He was so tired that he soon was in a deep sleep. When he woke up he found himself tied to the ground by the little men (Lilliputians) who lived there.
