How did Hatshepsut change Egypt during her reign as pharaoh?
Answers
- Hatshepsut was a female pharaoh of Egypt. She reigned between 1473 and 1458 B.C. Her name means “foremost of noblewomen.” ... Despite the apparent success of her reign, and a burial in the Valley of the Kings, her monuments would be defaced after her death, apparently by her co-ruler and step-son/nephew Thutmose III. Hatshepsut was the fifth pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt. Thutmose II was married to his half sister Hatshepsut, making her Queen of Egypt at about age 12. Beginning in 1478 B.C., Queen Hatshepsut reigned over Egypt for more than 20 years. She served as queen alongside her husband, Thutmose II, but after his death, claimed the role of pharaoh while acting as regent to her step-son, Thutmose III.
