In the initial days following her illness, Helen Keller was bitterly remorse just like other children of the same age. She was short tempered and threw tantrums because of her inability to communicate with others. Helen would hurt other people in many ways by scratching, biting, pinching, and hitting. She even vented out by breaking the household crockery, lamps and just about anything in her life. The whole Keller family was distraught and many relatives considered her to be a “monster” who should be sent to an institution.

The turning point in her life was when Ms Anne Sullivan came over to homeschool her. With love and patience, the tutor was able to make her docile and help her learn to speak.
