In the summer of 1886, Helen's parent took her to see Dr chisholm, a famous eye doctor in baltimore. Dr Chrisholm couldn't do anything to helen but advised her parents to see Dr Alexander graham bell in Washington who would be able to give them information about schools and teachers for deaf and blind children.

Dr Alexander graham bell advised Helen's parents to contact to Mr anagnos of perkins institution for the blind. It was in this institute that a teacher named miss sullivan was found for helen.
