Helen was the first child in the family.
Hellen father suggested that she could be named Mildred after a respectable person from his family, while her mother suggested the name helen as helen was the name of her mother(helen's grandmother). when she was taken to church for christening, her father forgot her name in the excitement, and when her name was asked, he said, "helen".
