Helen remained occupied throughout the journey to Baltimore. The conductor gave her a punch. She got a rag doll from her aunt. Through gestures Helen tried to explain to her aunt that she wanted eyes to be fixed on her doll's face. Since her aunt could not make the head or tail of her gestures she plucked two beads out of her aunt's cape and gestured her to fix them in the place of eyes. As usual she did not have any outbursts of anger. She stayed calm and happy all along the way. A lady gave her a box of shells. She whiled away her time in stringing those shells.
