how did James mill categorise the history of India? what was wrong with this kind of categorisation​

Jame Mill charectorise history of India into three periods I.e Hindu, Muslim and British . This periodisation has its own problem. It is difficult to characterize an age through religion of rulers as variety of faiths existed simultaneously in these periods. what it shows that faiths of people is not important.
