How did JAVA got its name? Explain briefly.

The language was initially called Oak after an oak tree that stood outside Gosling's office. Later the project went by the name Green and was finally renamed Java, from Java coffee, a type of coffee from Indonesia. ... Sun Microsystems released the first public implementation as Java 1.0 in 1996.

   \textsf{In 1990, Sun Microsystems Inc. has conceived a project to develop}\\\textsf{software for consumer electronic devices that could be controlled by a remote.}\\\textsf{This project was called Stealth Project but later its } {\sf n ame} \textsf{ was changed to}\\\textsf{Green Project.}

   \textsf{In January of 1991, Bill Joy, James Gosling, Mike Sheradin, Patrick}\\\textsf{Nau\symbol{103}hton, and several others met in As pen, Colorado to discuss this}\\\textsf{project. Mike Sheradin was to focus on business development: Patrick}\\\textsf{Nau\symbol{103}hton was to begin work on the graphics system, and James}\\\textsf{Gosling was to identify the proper programming language for the project.}\\\textsf{Gosling thought C and C ++ could be used to develop the project.}\\

So the coffee}\\\textsf{had its own role in developing this language and good quality coffee was }\\\textsf{exported to the entire world from a place called `Java Island'. }
