Question -

How did Kalam's science teacher wife behave when he went to his house again?

Answer -

Sivasubramania Iyer was a science teacher of Abdul Kalam. He was an orthodox brahmin and believes in equality. His wife was very conservative. He did his best to break social barriers. One day Sivasubramania invited Abdul Kalam for a meal but his wife was horrified at the idea of a Muslim boy and refused to serve him in her kitchen. Sivasubramania was not disturbed, instead he served him with his own hands. He also sat down beside him to eat his meal. His wife watched them from behind the kitchen door. Kalam wondered whether she had found any difference in the way Kalam ate rice, drank water and cleaned the floor after the meal. When Kalam was leaving Iyer's house then Iyer invited him for dinner the next weekend. When Kalam visited his house the next week, Sivasubramania Iyer's wife took him inside her kitchen and served him food with her own hands.
