How did khilafat issue strength to the Indian national movement

Hi. so this is what I wrote in my model exam and my teacher gave me full marks.
the khilafat movement was started by the Indian muslims to pressure the british to not abolish the Ottoman caliphate. In 1920, an alliance was made between the Indian National Congress and the khilafat leaders to fight together for the the khilafat wrongs and swaraj. By making this alliance, Gandhiji ensured that both hindus as well as muslims developed the idea of one nation and the feeling of "indian."
