For his daring act of bravery and rescue he was praised by the Governor as well as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra along with other officials. A cash award of Rs 12970/- was also presented to him along with shelter in a Home for the Blind for few months. During his stay in the above Government aided home he learnt the art of bottling and weaving of chair seats.
This skill helped him to pursue a small business in his native village. As a result Kondiba who hated begging never begged again.
