He was Ghana's first prime minister and president, leading the Gold Coast in 1957 towards independence from the British. Nkrumah was a leading supporter of Pan-Africanism, and in 1962 was one of its founder leaders and Lenin Peace Prize recipients.

Explanation:

  • Gold Coast media first appeared in the 19th century when "The Gold Coast Gazette" & "Commercial Intelligencer" were published in 1822. Only four journals were published following the Ghana Declaration of Independence from the UK by 7 March 1957..
  • Leader Kwame Nkrumah finally controlled all the media in Ghana and viewed it as a tool of state authority that encouraged and propagated national unity and set up a system of hierarchy to manage the media..
  • The Guinean Press which was established post independence & under Kwame Nkrumah's one-party government published propaganda & ideological magazines & newspapers to propagate politics & socialist ideas.
  • Amongst them,"The Spark", " The Evening News," many periodicals for the party’s mass organizations such as 'women’s association', "the Young Pioneers" "student organisations", etc. It also published for the global market, Africa & the world, a magazine on anti-imperialism & African Unity.
  • For acceleration of development, Nkrumah was using radio programs and other mass media forms. In order to educate and mobilize the people for various social , economic and cultural development programmes, independence broadcasting  had a very successful and essential role. It also played a "significant role" in the building of a single, united, multiethnic Ghana political state
