Lord Canterville was pleased to know Mr.Otis wanted to buy the mansion, but he had something to tell him before the purchase was made. He warned him that there was a ghost in the Chase, but Mr.Otis seemed to care little or less about it. Lord Canterville even tried telling him the horrifying story of what happened to his grand-aunt, the Dowager Duchess of Bolton, but Mr.Otis didn't believe him and insisted on buying the Chase with the furniture 'and the ghost included'. He said he comes from a modern country, where they do what they want. If a ghost really existed, then Mr.Otis would buy it and display it in a museum or even have a travelling ghost-show!
