Lord Dalhousie expanded the British territory in India by following a policy of annexation.

EXPLANATION:

Under this policy, Lord Dalhousie annexed many Indian kingdoms like Jhansi, Satara, and Nagpur etc.

According to the 'Doctrine of Lapse', if a ruler of any kingdom died without leaving a 'natural heir', the territory was to be 'annexed' to the British. This meant that any kingdom whose ruler could not have a natural heir had to forgo the territory and surrender it to the British thereby expanding the British Rule.
