Lord wellesly expanded the british power in india by introducing a policy called subsidiary alliance. According to this policy indian kings could continue to rule with an assurance of protection from the british.but their were some conditions such as:
A. Their would be a british resident posted in the court of the king.
B. The king could not approach any foreigner without the permission of the british resident.
C. The king would have to maintain certain no. of british troops.
