Luigi stopped narrator to buy wild strawberries from them because they were wearing worn clothes and even their hairs were tangled. They where looking very unhygince.

This was because both Nicola and Jacopo had a shabby and unhygienic appearance. They were wearing worn out clothes and their hair was tangled. Due to this reason, Luigi tried to stop the narrator from buying wild strawberries from them by saying that he would get much better fruit in Verona.
