The rich farmers of USA bought the new reaper machine which would complete the work fast with minimum number of labourers.

The advent of machines reduced the need for labour and which resulted in unemployment. Few small-scale farmers also bought machines through the loans offered by banks , but found it extremely tough to repay , when the demand decreased after the First World War.

This led to abandoning of their farms and ventured out in search of employment. But jobs were hard due to mechanisation which proved that machines brought misery for the poor farmers

Many affluent farmers of the US purchased the new reaper machine.

Using it, the work could be completed in a short time with minimum manual labor.

Hence, machines brought unemployment for the poor farmers.

Moreover, looking at its success, many small-scale farmers also purchased them using bank loans but could not pay back the loans due to decreased demand after the World War I.

Finally, they left their farms and started searching for employment elsewhere.

They couldn't find employment due to mechanization and that is how machines only brought misery to poor farmers.
