Answer:

Before farming, people lived by hunting wild animals and gathering wild plants. When supplies ran out, these hunter-gatherers moved on. Farming meant that people did not need to travel to find food. Instead, they began to live in settled communities, and grew crops or raised animals on nearby land.

Explanation:

There was a time in the human history the oldest of all when our ancestors didn't knew how to produce food and they wandered from place to place in search of food. Food is very important for the survival of any organism so it's the best priority for all species to eat food. Humans are omnivores by nature but for a healthy life anyone needs mostly veg food and non veg very occasionally. That's why the development of agriculture in the Neolithic period (New Stone Age) marked the beginning of a new era, end of the stone age and beginning of the copper age. No doubt Agriculture us very important for every person but in countries like India and USA where the economy is also dependent on agriculture, it's importance increases even more. Agriculture also employees so many people as the process is not possible individually, even more than 50% of the Indian Population is directly or indirectly dependent on agriculture for their economic expenses. So, agriculture is very important for a large population of the world.

But someone said right, every good things also have demerits and the bad thing about agriculture is that only a small fraction of the population can see it's demerits. The demerits are that for agricultural and pastoral land to be raised forests need to be cut in large numbers. We destroy the nature's pattern of vegetation and replace it with our very own which causes trouble.

At the end even though the demerits, the process is very important for human survival and we need to encourage agriculture to meet the demands of our future generation.
