As a little boy Mandela played near his mother's hut, swam in the stream and rode the broad backs of slow moving bulls. As long as he abide by the rules of his tribe and his father no laws of man or God he was free.

As a young teenager, he experienced a want for transitory freedom. he wanted to be able to stay out at night as long as he wanted and read whatever he wanted wherever he wanted.

As a young adult he wanted honorable freedom. He wanted to live a lawful life, have a family, wife, children,etc

But soon he realised that the people who looked like him were not free. He was not free. And that is when he realised what true freedom he wanted. He wanted to liberate people from bonded labour, deprivation and discrimination.
