(i) Many Indians became junior player in the trade with China by providing finance, procuring supplies and shipping consignments.
(ii) Some merchants tfaded with Burma, Middle East and East Africa and accumulated capital through other trade networks.
(iii) Some merchants operated within India, carrying goods from one place to another, banking money, transferring funds between cities and financing traders.
(iv) When opportunities of investment in industries opened up, many Indian entrepreneurs set-up their own factories
