The Tale of Melon City is a narrative poem which tells about how a melon is chosen to the king of the state. Once an arch was constructed to attract the onlookers. As the king was passing by arch his crown got struck on the arch. He felt dishonored and decided to hang the builder's chief. In his defense, the chief builder shifted the blame on labors, labors shifted the blame on bricks, summoning the masons. Further, the masons shift the blame on architects and then finally the blame is finally put upon the king who made amendments in the construction of an arch. By taking the advice of the wise man, the old man in the court of the king decided the arch should be hanged. However, the arch hanging was called off and at the end, the man who was able to fit the noose was to hanged and the king fits in. At last, when it was o be decided who would be the next king, the old customs prevailed as to whoever will pass the city gate will choose the next king.
