when Mir Jafar was placed as the nawab after assasinating sirajuduallah, the east india company was still unwilling to take the administrartion.their prime objective was the" expansion of their trade". they thought that they would keep local rulers and rule on their behalf.but soon they realised that this was difficult.the local rulers were not that helpful as the company wanted them to be.MIr Jafar protested and so the company deposed him and made Mir Qasim the nawab. because the britishers were asking for a lot of concesssions, duty free trade etc,Mir Qasim complained ,which made the britishers furious.they fought a battle with them which is called the battle of buxar(1764).mir Qasim was defeated and Mir Jafar was made as the nawab again.when mir jafar died,.britishers(under the leadership of robert clive )told to themselves that "they themselves have to become the nawabs"
