Even though Helen was arrogant and used to throw tantrums, Miss Sullivan did not give up and was patient enough to make Helen understand things. This can be seen when Miss Sullivan showed her the difference between water and mug when Helen threw the doll in frustration of not understanding the difference. Miss Sullivan treated her normally instead of treating like a disabled kid. Miss Sullivan also taught her various words by spelling then on Helen's hand. She also provided her with warmth and nurtured her love towards nature by teaching her lessons from the nature. Thus she fulfilled her role in Helen's life as a teacher.
