With Helen joining Radcliffe, Miss Sullivan had to do all the extra work, as Helen's disabilities posed a challenge. Miss Sullivan attended the lectures with Helen, and help her understand what was being taught, by hand spelling them out to her. This required an enormous amount of patience and dedication on her part, and even though she was trying her best, she could not spell out entire books to Helen, but she tried nonetheless. It was Miss Sullivan's sheer dedication towards Helen, that makes her such an inspiring human being, and when Helen says that she owes everything that she is to Miss Sullivan, it is hardly an exaggeration.
