How did miss Sullivan taught the connection between words and meanings

Humans learn the art of language through their ability to listen. Children at young age imitate what they hear and consequently learn the language. The sight helps them to allocate a proper "name" to a certain "tangible" thing. Thus hearing and seeing cohesively work to gather to construct the language. Helen had none of these faculties, she did not know which sound to follow nor distinguishing any entity with the help of sight. Thus. miss Sullivan spelt the letters in her hands and taught her sounds from the movement of her lips and vibrations of her throat.

She first spelt the spelling into Helen's hand and then handed her the thing. Like for example Anne spelt the word d-o-l-l in Helen's hand and then handed Helen a doll, so that she understood it. But Anne felt difficulty in making Helen understand what is love because there is no such thing which Helen could touch. But later Helen understood that some things can only be felt not touched.
