Mrs. Dorling behaved ignoringly when she the narrator. Mrs. Dorling put her hand on the door as though preventing the narrator from entering the house, as she didn't want the narrator to look at all the things she brought from their house and hence was a little skeptical as well.

She had taken their possessions at the time of war and promised to keep them safe. But she did not want to return them to narrator. Mrs Dorling held her hand on the door as though she wanted to prevent it from opening any further and her face absolutely gave no sign of recognition. She kept on staring at the woman in silence. She refused to recognise her and closed the door saying that she had to go so she could not talk to her. Mrs Dorling was shocked on seeing the narrator.
