The Mughals become powerful in the late seventeenth century because:

  • The Muslim Mughal rulers ruled the Hindu majority in India in the '16th' and '17th' centuries.
  • The last Mughal ruler, Aurangzeb ruled India for 50 years.
  • He was very religious and thus, he restricted the Hindu customs and practises.
  • He gave orders to destroy thousands of temples.
  • In 17th century, Aurangzeb invaded the temples in Southern India.
  • This resulted in the Mughal Empire to reach its peak and it became the most powerful economy.
