Naths and Jogis (religious leaders who didn't function within the Orthodox Brahmanical framework) gained ground in the North India during 14th and 15th centuries because the were against the useless and complicated rituals and used to convey their message in vernacular language.

These Naths and Jogis were against the Vedas, caste system and Brahmanical superiority and preached simple teachings. They belonged to artisan and craft class which also made them popular among common people. Besides the coming of Muslims undermined the statue of Brahmans which also helped these Naths and Jogis to gain their ground in North India.
