With the introduction of printing press : the time and labour require to produce the books came down which reduced to the cost of books and initiated mass production with greater ease thus book flooded the market, reaching out to common people . acess to book created a new culture of reading which was earlier restricted to elites but books could only be read by literate so books were read collectively and knowledge began to transfer orally thus hearing public came into being.

New forms of popular literature appeared in print, targeting new audiences:

(i)Booksellers employed pedlars who roamed around villages, carrying little books for sale.

(ii)There were almanacs or ritual calendars, along with ballads and folktales.
