the newspaper played a pivotal role in mobilizing public opinion. It enabled the reformers to spread awareness through their writings. Many English educated Indians learnt Sanskrit and translated books into English. The spirit of national pride instilled patriotism and prepared a ground for rise of nationalism in India. People from different caste, community and religion came in closer contact, which gave a great impetus to the struggle for freedom
