On the onset of the Non Cooperation Movement the middle classes of the towns participated in it because they thought that it will reform their condition. The teachers and students in the schools of British left them, lawyers gave up practices, people boycotted foreign clothes and many officials resigned from their respective posts.
Its effect on the economic front --
1. It blocked the source if income to the British government.
2. It stopped the supply of money to the army and navy and even to the Britishers.
3. It also affect middle class people as it also blocked their source of income .
