In the poem Bewoulf, the Hero Grendel wanted to make a name for himself.
He fight with the dragon who troubles the people and become the Hero in the eyes of everyone. While fighting, Grendel gets hurt by Bewoulf and due to the wound he died. People gave him a royal funeral as he was the one who freed the people from the terror of the Dragon.
Grendel achieved his goal and his name will be remembered for years among people.
