People in early days travelled long distances:
1) either on animal backs. The common example for that is of horse.
2) or by bullock carts driven by either ox or horse.
With time, everything has developed and people created more convenient ways fir themselves. For travelling:
1) people now use either personal or private vehicles.
2) Vehicles like cars, buses and bikes are used by people for not so long distance.
3) Airplanes and ships are the preferred by people for overseas travelling.
4) Trains are also used by people for both long and short distance travelling. Be it metro trains or inter state or inter country trains.
