People persuaded Shylock by telling him to have mercy n leave Antonio. But as Shylock was envy of Antonio so he rejected them. Portia told Shylock that while the process of cutting the flesh if one drop of blood spills on the ground then Shylock's all wealth should be given to the state n Antonio. In this way she outsmarted Shylock.

Everybody present, tried their best to persuade Shylock to take back his penalty. Bassanio offered ten times the sum of money to shylock. But shylock refused to his offer. Then Portia, by her wit and humour, asked Shylock to take his pound of flesh from Antonio's body but if in cutting his pound of flesh , he sheds one drop of blood then he would also be penalised heavily.
