Raja Rammohan Roy who belongs from a Brahmins community, his own brother died for some reason, so at that period in India Sati rites are continuing, according to the Sati rites when the husband died at that period the wife of that person must have to sacrifice herself that burning fire of her husband, then that woman called as Sati. so raja Rammohan Roy brother wify while going sacrifice herself on that burning fire, so suddenly develop a ideas that how to abolished the Sati rites in India. because this is very dangerous Social problem, so for that reason raja Rammohan Roy started a Social reform movement in India.
