Answer:

visited Haldighati. As an historian, I gained a lot of truthful information regarding the life of Maharana Pratap and the battle of Haldighati. I studied about it clearly.

Maharana Pratap defeated Akbar's army many times . He had captured many forts from Mewar defeating mughal army except Maharana Pratap couldn't capture Chhittorgarh back from the mughals.

Akbar visited a Sufi Saint to ask him whether he will die in the battle of Haldighati. The Sufi Saint warned Akbar that if he went to fight in the battle with Maharana Pratap then he will not return back alive . So Akbar sent his Commander in chief (actually his wife's brother) a Rajput ,Maan Singh along with his army to fight in the battle.

A day before battle, Maharana Pratap befriend with Chief of Bhils and Bhils soldiers who agree to help him. Maharana Pratap is also helped by his Commander in chief Bairam Khan who is from Afghanistan.

Maharana Pratap had horses , while the Mughals had elephants. So in order to confuse the mughal elephants, Maharana Pratap fixed the artificial elephant trunk and ears to Chetak.

On the day of battle of Haldighati, Maharana Prataps army fought bravely. In the midst of the battle , Maharana Prataps brother who sided the mughals joined the side of Maharana after accepting his mistake. With the great help of Bhils, Maharana Prataps army was on the verge of winning and mughal army led by Maan Singh was getting pushed back.

At the same time Maharana Prataps horse Chetak jumped on the elephant while Maharana Pratap raised his bhalaphek to kill Maan Singh.

Maharana Prataps horse Chetak jumped on Maan Singh's elephant while his leg is being cut by the sword in the elephant's trunk. Maharana Pratap raises his bhalaphek to kill Maan Singh.

But the elephant controller of Maan Singh gave sword to the trunk of elephant and the elephant cut the leg of Chetak making him fatally wounded.

While Maharana Pratap who raised his bhalaphek to kill Maan Singh mistakenly kills Maan Singh's elephant controller, while Maan Singh is narrowly saved.

Chetak who is wounded runs with his three legs and take Maharana Pratap away from the battlefield and saves him. Chetak takes Maharana Pratap several miles away from the battlefield. Then Chetak jumped over a narrow canal with his three legs and then falls on the ground. Maharana Pratap who is unaware of it comes to know that Chetak is wounded at his leg and ran several miles with only his three legs and saved his life.

Maharana Prataps horse Chetak lying dead while Maharana Pratap getting very emotional due to Chetaks death. Maharana Prataps brother leaving for the battlefield to fight as Maharana.

Maharana Pratap feel extremely emotional due to the death of Chetaks . He cannot fight in the battle without Chetak. So he conciders that he lost the battle of Haldighati. He then sends his brother who accompanied him behind to fight in the battle of Haldighati as himself . His brother is killed in the battlefield and mughal enjoy thinking that they killed Maharana Prataps , while Maharana Pratap goes into hiding for several days

Few days later Maharana Pratap built a memorial to Chetak at the same place where Chetak fell down.

Chetak Smarak built by Maharana Pratap in the memory of Chetak at the place where Chetak fell down dead

After several days in hidding, Maharana Pratap again attacked mughal army and won back many forts.

Maharana Pratap didn't run away from battle of Haldighati, but instead he was saved from death by Chetak by taking him few miles away from battlefield.

Maharana Pratap wasn't a coward but instead he was a brave warrior. He attacked mughal army again later and won back many forts. He never surrendered to Akbar even though Akbar asked him to and never accepted the high post in the mughal court.
