The George Bush Jr. government, was criticised for its slow response and ill-preparedness, in dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.  

There was widespread condemnation directed towards mismanagement and lack of readiness, in meeting the after-effects of the disaster.

Hurricane Katrina made landfall on August 29, 2005, causing major damage to life and property. The worst affected area was New Orleans, Louisiana.
