In the following ways, print culture develops in Europe:

1. Silk route: in the 11th century, through the silk route paper reached Europe from China. The production of manuscripts could be made possible only after the arrival of the paper.

2. Role of travelers and pioneers: Marco Polo (a traveler) in 1295 after a period of four-year exploration carried the wood printing technology in Italy. The introduction of wood printing made the Italians print their own manuscript.

3. Woodblock printing: the woodblock printing spread throughout Europe by the early 15th century. The woodblock printing was then used for printing textiles, religious pictures and playing cards.

4. Johann Gutenberg: the first printing press was introduced by Johann Gutenberg in the 1430s. The Bible was the first printed book; which has 42 lines, commonly identified as the Gutenberg Bible.

5. The expanse of printing presses: between  1450 and 1550 a number of the printing press was being set up in various parts of Europe.
