Extension of Pulakeshi II Empire:

Pulakeshi II extended his empire as he subjugated Banavasi's Kadambas, Talakad's Gangas, and South Kanaran's Alupas. The Mauryas of the Konkan are vanquished, and Puri Harbor (modern Elephanta Island), after a naval battle were won. The conquest was accompanied by the invasion of Gujarat by the Latas, Gurjaras, and Malawas. Historians Dr. R. C. Majumdar and Dr. Sircar confirmed these victories.

Pulakeshi II is Chalukya dynasty's most influential and prominent emperor. Through defeating the Gangas, Kadambas, and Alupas, he expanded his kingdom. Mahendravarma, the king of Pallava, did not accept Pulakeshi's authority so he took his kingdom over and overthrew him by killing him. As Harshavardhana, the king of northern India came to the shores of the Narmada River, he was opposed by Pulakeshi. He was called 'Dakshinapatheshwara' and 'Prince of the Peninsula' for this reason.
