The railroads had a positive impact on the West. It improved trade, provided jobs and economically strengthened the places. Most of the cities made use of the railroads as means of transport helping people commute easily.

The building of the railroads gave an economic boost to the economy as it gave way to mining. Adding to that, it linked the west with the east increasing migration rates, thus more wealth. There was a need to send agricultural products to the east. the railroads allowed this to happen in a smooth and safe manner.
