How did Rajasthan get its name?

In 1829, col. James Tod used the word Rajasthan for land governed by Rajputs. He wrote history of modern Rajasthan titled “ Anal and antiquities of westerns rajput states”. Thus the land governed by Rajputs got the name Rajasthan.
