how did regional parties emerge in india.?
Answers
Regional party refers to a political party, which has its base in a particular region and has limited objectives. National party implies a political party that extends over the entire nation, in terms of area of influence. It can be changed and repeated in other state.
Until 1996, only a single national party was recognised on the national political level in India. Indian National Congress has ever since been an influential party but during the 1996 elections, for the very first time, this party was dethroned by the Bhartiya Janta Party.
After that, both of these parties have had a great influence over national politics. But with time, there has been the emergence of various political parties on a regional level.
According to a survey conducted throughout India during the 2019 elections, it was concluded that slowly and steadily these national parties are losing their importance and the regional parties are gaining importance.
