At first she called him a dot (drunkard) but shed tears for him in pity too. The beggar felt very bad and ashamed. He knew he was weak due to drinking. But seeing Goa's condition made him feel shameful. He was willing to work and live a respectable life because he didn't want Olga's sacrifices to go in vain.
