Answer:

Slavery played the central role during the American Civil War. The primary catalyst for secession was slavery, especially Southern political leaders' resistance to attempts by Northern antislavery political forces to block the expansion of slavery into the western territories.

Answer:

See, At that time there were many states in America. So the northern side wanted to abolish slavery but the southern didn't.

Why?

Because in South the technology was stuck in Agriculture so they needed slaves to do the work.

So because of that American Civil War broke out and formed Confederated States of America which allowed slavery and it was a partially recognized state.
