. Sinhala leaders seek to gain dominance over govt by virtue of majority
. By passing an act in 1956 sinhala was made the only official language
. preferential policies favouring sinhala applicants for University position and govt jobs were made by the govt
. a new constitution was put forward that state that the state shall protect and incourage Buddhism.
